How it works
- Choose a photo: Pick a clear photo with one main subject. Tall photos fit the edge of a book best.
- Set your book: Enter the first and last page and the page height. You get one strip for each sheet.
- Print the strips: Download a printable PDF (A4 or Letter) with every strip numbered and sized to your pages.
- Apply and fan: Fold each strip on its dashed centre line, fix it over the edge of its page in number order, then fan the book.

- What is a photo strip book?
- A book whose page edges show a photo. The photo is cut into thin strips, one for each sheet, and each strip is fixed to the edge of its page. Fan the book open and the strips line up into the picture. It is also called foto book art, fore-edge photo art or book edge photo art.
- Which photos work best?
- A clear photo with one main subject and good contrast. Tall (portrait) photos fit the edge of a book best. You can upload JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP or SVG files.
- How many pages should my book have?
- You get one strip for each sheet of paper in the range you choose, so more pages give thinner slices and a smoother picture. Around 300 to 400 pages is a good place to start.
- Can I use a landscape (horizontal) photo?
- Yes. Rotate it a quarter turn before you upload it, so it runs along the edge of the book.
- How do I attach the strips?
- Cut out the strips, fold each one along its dashed centre line and fix it over the edge of its page, in number order. Double-sided tape is quickest; glue works too. For thin pages, some makers do a 180 fold on each page first so the edges are sturdier.
- Is it free?
- Yes. Photo strip patterns are free for books up to 300 pages. BookFoldPro PRO removes the page limit.
