The Ultimate Guide to Stand Mode: Hands-Free Book Folding

Published on 2026-07-22 by BookFoldPro Team | 5 min read

Folding a book requires both of your hands. You're holding pages, aligning rulers, marking points, and creasing paper. Having to constantly tap your phone screen or scroll through a PDF to find your next coordinates can break your crafting flow and smudge your screen. That is why we designed Stand Mode—a revolutionary hands-free folding workbench.

What is Stand Mode?

Stand Mode transforms your screen into a high-contrast, landscape-oriented display showing only the information you need at that moment: your current page, fold markings, and simple status cues. It is designed to be readable from several feet away while your phone sits on a stand next to your book.

Hands-Free Voice Commands

The marquee feature of Stand Mode is the voice-guided assistant. Once enabled, you can control the entire folding process using simple voice commands without ever touching your device. Key commands include:

  • 'Next Page' or 'Done': Instantly moves to the next page layout and reads the new coordinates.
  • 'Back' or 'Previous Page': Takes you back to double-check the previous page.
  • 'Read all marks': Audibly reads out the current measurement offsets (e.g., 'Page 45: Mark 1: 3.2 to 5.4 centimeters').
  • 'How many marks?': Tells you the number of folds on the current page to ensure accuracy.

Vibrations & Haptic Guides

If you are folding on our mobile app, Stand Mode integrates native haptics. Your phone will output subtle vibrations to confirm voice actions and coordinate changes, letting you keep your eyes focused entirely on your ruler and pencil marks.

How to Activate Stand Mode

To start, open any pattern in the BookFoldPro app, tap 'Start Folding' or 'Teach Mode' at the top right, and then tap the 'Stand Mode' icon or rotate your device to landscape orientation. Make sure to allow microphone permissions if you plan to use voice navigation.
